Lisse is the most famous flower village in the Netherlands and is especially known for the many colourful tulip fields in spring and for the world-famous tulip park Keukenhof. During the Dutch Tulip Festival there are many activities and events in and around Lisse around the blooming tulips and other spring flowers. The most famous event in Lisse is the annual Dutch Flower Parade. Outside the tulip blooming period there is also a lot to do in this cosy flower village just 30 kilometres below Amsterdam.

What to expect in Lisse?

Lisse is a village with approximately 23,000 inhabitants. To the west of the village lie the world-famous bulb fields and the Keukenhof flower park. East of Lisse lies the most extensive lake area of the Netherlands. The village itself has a wide range of restaurants and shops, and in the centre is the Museum de Zwarte Tulp where you can learn more about the cultivation of flower bulbs in and around Lisse.

When is the best time to visit Lisse?

Lisse is most beautiful in spring when the many tulip fields are in bloom and Keukenhof flower park is open. Every spring this flowering season starts at the end of March and the flowers bloom until mid-May. In summer, Lisse is especially popular because it is only 7 kilometres from the wide sandy beach of Noordwijk.

The Dahlia Festival, which starts at the beginning of August and lasts until the beginning of October, is also a draw. In and around Lisse there are several show gardens to visit with summer flowers.
