How it works

The Dutch Countryside Card is easy to use. Here is the simple step-by-step plan:

  1. When you buy the Dutch Countryside Card, choose your arrival day in Amsterdam
  2. Select a date and possibly a time slot per item
  3. For the OV-ticket it is important to know that you have to exchange your digital ticket for a public transport pass. This can be done at one of the many ticket machines or ticket counters in and around Amsterdam (e.g. at Amsterdam Central Station, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station, Amsterdam ArenA/Bijlmer Station, Amsterdam Zuid Station and Amsterdam Noord Station). Exchanging vouchers is very easy. Scan the barcode on your voucher at one of the ticket machines or ticket counters.
  4. To travel by public transport, check in with your public transport pass at the beginning of your journey and check out at the end of each journey. Please note! Your public transport pass only becomes valid at your first check-in.
  5. Want to visit other attractions and tours? Your Dutch Countryside Card comes with a unique discount code that gives you a 10% discount on many attractions and tours in and around Amsterdam. You must buy your tickets in advance at the ticketshop. The discount is NOT valid at the locations’ cash registers.

Which public transport lines are included with Amsterdam Region Travel Ticket?

With the OV-ticket you can travel for free with the train, tram, metro, bus and ferry in the Amsterdam area. By train you travel between many train stations in the Amsterdam area. Furthermore the OV-ticket is valid in all trams, (night-)buses, metros and ferries of GVB, EBS, Keolis and Connexxion in Amsterdam and the Amsterdam area.

When does the validity of the public transport ticket start?

The ticket is valid from the moment you first check in until 4 am after the last day of validity (the validity period is 1, 2 or 3 days depending on the type of ticket). The day starts at 00.00 hours (midnight).

Example 1: if you check in with your 2-day ticket at midnight on Wednesday, your ticket is valid until 4am on Friday.

Example 2: if you check in with your 2-day ticket at 20:00 on Wednesday, your ticket is valid until 4:00 on Thursday morning.
